10 Wedding Colors I LOVE!

July 19, 2009

So, after seeing bride after bride confounded by color schemes, I thought I would share my latest favorites in Wedding Colors.

10. Classic white on white. Clean, modern, sophisticated, soft, and timeless, I don’t think the white wedding will ever go out of style. There are tons of white flowers in all shapes and sizes that can help you create whatever look you’re going for. If you don’t want your bridesmaids in white though, consider black dresses (matching the groomsmen) or a soft metallic.

9. The Rainbow. Over the last decade or so, it’s been popular to have bridesmaid’s pick their own style dress in a color of the bride’s choosing. What about the other way around. Choose one style dress, but have each girl in different color. Match the palette to the season – pastels in spring,  jewel tones in the winter.

8. Grey accents a pastel. I love grey with spring colors, especially with pink, yellow or lavender.  It provides the contrast to color in a softer way than black.

7. Pink and gold or yellow. Classically romantic, the feminine look of pink and gold has an old world look to me, but can have such a fresh and modern appeal.  Plus, it’s just pretty.

6. Green and brown. Take some inspiration from nature. Natural and earthy, perfect for an outdoor wedding. What’s great about this combination is that it takes well to a mix of different shades of both the greens and browns.

5. Tiffany blue and red.  The classic tiffany blue and white gets a modern spin with red accents.

4. Monochromatic in different shades. Dark blue with light blue.  Bright pink with light pink.  Deep violet with lavender.  Choosing a monochromatic look is dramatic and powerful and if you make sure that within your monochromatic, there is some contrast, it looks very sophisticated.

3. Orange, pink and yellow. Youthful and bright, these colors seem to bring sunshine into the darkest space.

2. Purple and lime.  Yep, I think I’m in love.  This color combo is strikingly beautiful, bold and edgy. Plus, the creative side of you can really come through with endless possibilities for table arrangements.

1. Black and white with . . . just about anything.  Black and white is the perfect combination in any year and any season. I’m a little over the black and white and pink combo that has been everywhere in the last five years, but if it’s your thing, it always looks great.  For something a little more fresh, try black and white with yellow or orange accents.

Help! I am planning a bridal shower for March 12th. I am an insanely busy mom of twins (almost 2) and a 5 year old. My thoughts are tiffany blue and red. I would love to see the details of your tiffany blue and red post up close and personal. Can you please email me at bollingwith5@gmail.com Any suggestions would be insanely appreciated.
